Welcome 2025 with the release of our latest updates. Our biggest improvements are reserved for classic matching models, but there are also updates to Log Browser, Trimmr and various performance improvements.
Similar (Fuzzy) matching improvement
Support for probabilistic or fuzzy matching had been introduced to DataGroomr awhile back. Our intention was to offer customers basic (non-AI powered) matching for two scenarios.
First, for backward compatibility… as many of our customers come to us with experience in exact and fuzzy matching from Salesforce duplicate rules (or other 3rd party vendors), this option offered customers a way to keep these rules while adding the simplicity of ML models that are superior when compared to fuzzy logic.
Secondly, customers who are just starting on their data quality journey can often eliminate large amounts of duplicates by implementing standard exact matching rules. For example, a common use case is to match on email addresses.
Over the past year, we have introduced additional options for classic matching models, such as Group Fields, Matching on First N characters and Ignore Common Words ( September ‘24 Release: New Verifications, AWS S3 Integration and Matching Model Enhancements | DataGroomr.com). In this release we have added two additional features:
Users now have 3 options on how blank fields will be matched.
- Match if Both Sides Blank –if records are empty (or blank) in the specified field, they will be treated as a match. This is default setting;
- Match if Either Side Blank – if either record is empty (or blank) for the specified field, they will be treated as a match;
- Don’t Match on Blank Values – if any record compared is empty (or blank) for the specified field, they will not be considered as a match
This release also removes the need for the extra toggle to enable similar (fuzzy) matching. Both exact and similar are now provided when adding a field to a classic model.
Display Record Name in Log Browser
Log browser has always displayed the record ID in Log Browser with a link to open the record in Salesforce. For convenience, users can now click on a switch to see Salesforce records directly from the Log Browser.
Sorting on All Fields displayed in All Records Tab
Users reviewing individual records in Trimmr’ All Records tab can now sort on field values being displayed to the user. This provides additional flexibility when matching and reviewing records manually.
As always, we are hard at work on some amazing upgrades including data enrichment add-ons that will come in 2025. Please follow our release notes and blogs for additional information or feel free to reach out to us directly if you have ideas on the next feature, we should build. Thanks for tuning in!
