The idea for DataGroomr emerged from a personal experience of frustration with data management. When Steve Pogrebivsky’s previous company was acquired by a competitor, both firms relied on Salesforce CRM to manage their data. As part of the acquisition integration, the two companies merged their lead, contact, and account data into a single Salesforce organization. The result was a massive headache—thousands of duplicate records that caused significant problems across marketing, sales and finance teams.Â
Customers received duplicate marketing communications, creating confusion and irritation. Even worse, multiple salespeople ended up contacting the same customer, making things even more awkward and damaging relationships.Â
Salesforce offered limited tools to address this issue; so they turned to a third-party solution—a company that would later become a DataGroomr competitor. Although the tool was eventually effective, it required considerable time and effort to configure. The interface was outdated and complex, and the steep learning curve meant that only highly experienced employees could use it effectively.Â
This arduous experience sparked an idea. Steve and his co-founder, Ben Novoselsky, were convinced that there had to be a better way. They envisioned creating a tool that would make duplicate detection and removal simple, intuitive, and accessible to all employees, not just the most seasoned professionals.Â
Motivated by a passion to solve the problem, Steve and Ben embarked on a journey to develop a SaaS-based solution powered by Machine Learning. Their vision was to create a tool that could identify duplicates without the need for complex configurations, one that would continuously improve as it learned from Salesforce data patterns. After two years of hard work—building advanced ML models and designing a modern, user-friendly interface—DataGroomr was officially launched in April 2020.Â
Today, DataGroomr is transforming the way businesses manage their data. What started as a personal frustration has evolved into a solution that helps hundreds of organizations streamline operations, enhance customer relationships, and ultimately harness the power of clean data.Â
