Top 10 Salesforce Tools and Integrations Your Nonprofit Should Be Using

By November 18, 2021December 17th, 2021No Comments

Salesforce provides a very effective donor management platform that enables nonprofits to manage their donations, communicate with current and potential donors, analyze donation data, and make decisions about future projects pertaining to their organization. Salesforce understands that nonprofits have some unique needs and requirements that commercial companies may not have, which is why they created the Nonprofit Success Pack (NPSP) to meet those needs. Let’s take a closer look at NPSP to better understand the services it offers to nonprofits.

1. The Nonprofit Success Pack

The Nonprofit Success Pack (formerly known as Nonprofit Starter Pack) is a set of managed packages developed and maintained by Salesforce and made available for free via the Salesforce AppExchange. The following packages are included in the NPSP:

  • Recurring Donations
  • Relationships
  • Affiliations
  • Contacts & Organizations
  • Households

It is worth mentioning that these packages cannot be installed individually as the NPSP Installer Package will install them all. These tools will help your nonprofit organization manage your contacts and households, donation payments, organization accounts and affiliations, and grant lifecycles. While the NPSP is a very powerful tool in and of itself, there are many other plugins that can help you further expand your Salesforce capabilities.

2. DataGroomr

DataGroomr is the only Salesforce deduplication tool on the AppExchange that’s powered by machine learning. This is great because you don’t have to download anything and there are no complex rules to set up. Just connect it to your Salesforce and start deduping. This is very important because duplicate records can cause a lot of confusion among your teams which leads to a lot of wasted time and resources.

In addition to deduplication, you can also use DataGroomr to validate your donor contact information. Your will be able to verify emails, phone numbers and street addresses. The Brushr tool provides a feature that will try to discover a valid email based on the record context if a certain email was found to be invalid. Very convenient!

3. Hootsuite

Nonprofits usually face many challenges while managing their social media profiles. Very often, they have to deal with limited human resources and budgets. Still, all of the social media platforms are important tools for promoting awareness, building communities, inspiring action, and many other things. Hootsuite is a great tool that can help you manage all of your nonprofit social media campaigns. You can schedule and publish posts across networks, engage the audience, and measure results all from a single dashboard.

By connecting Hootsuite to your Salesforce platform, you will be able to better manage your Hootsuite social media data to view details and activity history for Leads, Opportunities, Accounts, Contacts, and other Salesforce objects. It is also important to integrate your social media channels with Salesforce since more and more people research, interact and donate to organizations on social media.

4. MailChimp

Given the rise of social media and various messaging apps, many professionals consider email communication to be a thing of the past. However, many studies have shown that email is still an effective communication channel for nonprofits to build awareness, acquire leads, convert supporters, and retain current donors. For example, according to Funraise, 71% of nonprofits send email updates to their supporters. Of those sending email updates to supporters, it found that 35% send monthly, 30% quarterly, and 13% weekly.

MailChimp is one of the most popular email marketing tools available on the market today. You can easily customize and brand your emails, send them out to all of the recipients on your lists and track the successes of your campaigns. You have a couple of options when it comes to connecting MailChimp to your Salesforce. MailChimp offers a discount for nonprofits, as well as built-in integration with Salesforce or you can download their app from the AppExchange.

5. GetFeedback

This is something that’s easy to do with GetFeedback and, best of all, you don’t even have to leave Salesforce to do so. You can ask your donors questions that are most important to you and sync real-time response data with Salesforce. This way, you will get a more accurate picture of donor health and spot trends, address issues, and discover new opportunities for growth.

Having Clean Data is a Prerequisite for Using Any Salesforce Apps and Integrations

When your Salesforce instance is riddled with bad data, it reduces the integrity of knowledge, decisions, and even your organization’s survival. With this in mind, it is important to cleanse the data in your Salesforce environment to maintain the quality of information your organization holds. After all, how do you know if your representatives are contacting the right people? Are they contacting donors using the most up-to-date information?

In addition to invalid data, your Salesforce, most likely, contains duplicate records. Emailing or calling the same person with multiple records shows the donor that you don’t have it together. It is also an additional drain on your already limited resources since your representatives will have to waste time contacting the same person, manually verifying information, and merging duplicate records. This is why so many nonprofit organizations trust DataGroomr with all of their data cleansing needs.
